Food-dining

OUR PROMISE

Our Food Service Staff is dedicated to providing and serving high quality, well balanced, and nutritious meals in a clean and safe environment.

As soon as you walk into the Dining Hall, one of the first things you’ll notice is the array of flags representing alumni from all over the world. It's in this dining hall that we share three delicious meals a day, sharing funny stories, bonding over new interests, and singing songs at the top of our lungs.

We prepare over 90,000 meals throughout the year. The food at Hazen comes in a large variety and with plenty of healthy options. We promote healthy eating by having a breakfast bar, a salad bar, and a fruit bowl for healthy snacking. We also offer our signature fresh infused waters, such as watermelon-basil and cucumber lemon, and a full self-serve coffee station available 24 hours daily for staff.

OUR FOOD

We work hard to ensure that all of our campers and guests receive enjoyable meals served at the right temperature and in a timely manner. We prepare and serve our menu items fresh daily. We have partnered with our Food Service purveyors in order to receive the highest quality products. Our Food Service Directors review our menu annually, and the two-week rotating menu ensures something for every taste.

Every morning at the breakfast bar you will find a combination of:

Yogurt and granola
Fresh fruit
Cottage cheese
Hard-boiled eggs
a variety of breakfast breads
   bagels
   muffins
   biscuits
   scones
Jelly
Cream cheese
Smart Balance Spread

A favorite option at lunch and dinner is our delicious and nutritious salad bar. Where you’ll find a selection of:

Fresh Greens
Tomatoes
Cucumbers
Carrots
Beans
Cheese
Cooked pasta
Sliced meats
Premade (in house) salads

Each salad bar will have a variety of lite or oil/vinegar based dressings and selection of toppings.

SUMMER CAMP

We eat Healthy at Hazen. Campers appreciate the healthy options and tell us the food is terrific. We serve our meals family style on round tables so every camper in the cabin group is included in the conversation. Serving meals family style is intentional so our counselors are able to teach table manners, manage portion control, and encourage healthy eating and community. All campers and staff are encouraged to wash their hands before meals, and we also have hand sanitizer at each entrance.

Meal times are fun. There is always great energy in the Dining Hall, from the whole camp singing the song of the summer to passionate village cheers, this is what makes camp special. Campers share waiter responsibilities and are eager for their turn to set the table, pick up the food and clear the dishes. Dining at Hazen is a memorable experience and one of the great traditions of coming to camp.

We hear time and again from parents that their child is a picky eater, so we have a lot of experience in this area. With that in mind, campers are encouraged to try a ‘No thank you’ helping and with the help of their counselor, village director and our food service staff, will find something good to eat.

DIETARY NEEDS

Here at Hazen we work hard to ensure that every member of our community can enjoy their meals, with the knowledge that we will accommodate their specific dietary needs. We have experience serving campers with a variety of food allergies, intolerances, and special diets. Our Food Service Staff are able to accommodate vegetarian, vegan, gluten free, and dairy free substitutions in our meals. We do not prepare any meals with peanuts or tree-nuts, and we recognize the top 8 allergens (wheat, soy, tree nuts & peanuts, milk, eggs, shellfish and fish). We take seriously our responsibility to prepare meals for those with severe food allergies. We highly encourage you to contact us before your visit to discuss your individual meal plan to ensure your safety.

Email Our Food Service Directors with any questions or concerns about your childs dietary needs.
